Chatsworth: The Revelation Water Feature

ft_193_detail__01508.jpg The well-known UK sculptor Angela Conner planned the Chatsworth ornamental outdoor water feature called “Revelation.” In celebration of the Queen’s 80th birthday, she was mandated by the deceased 11th Duke of Devonshire to produce a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth made of brass and steel in 2004. In 1999 Revelation was placed in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s first ponds. Taking the form of four big flower petals that open and close with the circulation of water, the metal water fountain alternately conceals and displays a golden globe at the heart of the sculpture. A metallic globe decorated with gold dust was included in the sculpture, which stands five meters high and five meters in width. This latest fountain is a fascinating addition to the Gardens at Chatsworth because the petals’ motion is entirely driven by water.

Everything You Will Need to Have for a Garden Water Fountain

A water source and an electrical outlet are two important items that many people do not take into account when determining where they want to place their garden fountain. People sometimes overlook the technical things because they get caught up in the excitement of putting in their newest purchase. Most power cords are 12 feet long and require a 120v outdoor outlet, though an extension cord can always be added. It will be necessary to fill your fountain with water so make sure there is a source of water close by. Carrying large amounts of water requires strength so you do not want to have to lug it a long distance. If you have given thought to it before installation, having a hose close by will make the task of filling the fountain much simpler. The ideal setup is with a water fountain autofill, but this has to be connected to an external water line and needs a skilled person to install it.
