There are models such as wall fountains designed specifically to be hung against a flat surface. Normally, they have something on the back of them like a hook or a bar with which you can use to affix them to a wall, post, or some other secure place. Such fountains are not stable on their own, therefore, be sure to secure it right away so that it does not topple over as a result of weather conditions, animals or other natural occurrences.

The garden sculpture style, yet another option, is perfect for parks or any place people are inclined to hang out to enjoy the fresh air and vistas.

Multi-level Water Features for your Lawn

For many years now now, multi-tiered fountains have been common, especially in gardens. The countries in the southern region of Europe tend to have a lot of these types of fountains. Piazzas and building courtyards are very popular areas where you will find tiered fountains. Impressive carvings can be found on some of the most sophisticated tiered fountains, while others have less complex designs.

Although they can be found just about anywhere, they seem particularly at home in more classic environments. The fountain should look as old as the rest of the space and fit in accordingly.

Keep Your Wall Water Fountain Tidy

Water fountains will last a very long time with routine cleaning and maintenance. It is easy for foreign items to find their way into open-air fountains, so keeping it clean is important. On top of that, algae can be a challenge, because sunshine hitting the water allows it to form easily. Either sea salt, hydrogen peroxide, or vinegar can be mixed into the water to eliminate this issue. There are those who like to use bleach, but that is hazardous to any animals that might drink or bathe in the water - so should therefore be avoided.

No more than 3-4 months should go by without an extensive maintaining of a fountain. The initial task is to empty out all of the water. Next use gentle and a soft sponge to clean the interior of the reservoir. If there are any small grooves, work with a toothbrush to get each and every spot. Be sure to completely rinse the inside of the fountain to make sure all the soap is gone.

Make sure you get rid of any calcium or plankton by taking the pump apart and scrubbing the inside properly. You might want to let it soak in vinegar for a few hours to make it much less difficult to wash. If you want to remove build-up in your fountain, use rain water or mineral water versus tap water, as these don’t contain any ingredients that will stick to the inside of the pump.

And finally, make sure the water level is always full in order to keep your fountain running smoothly. Allowing the water to go below the pump’s intake level, can cause major damage and even make the pump burn out - an undesired outcome!

Pond Fountains: The Treasure Trove in Your Own Yard

When someone mentions fountains, you typically think of the large sculptured ones found in parks, in front of hotels, etc. However, they can really suit any area, as they can be made in just about any shape, size, and design. Your very own garden or yard can be a ideal spot for a pond fountain.

Owning one can enhance your home in two primary ways.

To start off, everyone knows that fountains add beauty and contribute to a soothing ambiance. There is nothing better at the end of an exhausting day than the relaxing nature of trickling water. The environment will end up being a bit more elegant, too. Also, entertaining will be more fun, as your lovely fountain will encourage guests to socialize and take photos.

The other reason to put in this type of water element is to keep the water in your pond fresher for your fish. A pond fountain will oxygenate the water by keeping it in motion, which is ideal for fish. Your fish will last a longer time because of the constantly flowing, aerated water. You should see happier flowers too.

Guidelines for Putting in a Wall Water Element

Any space will benefit from the addition of a wall fountain.

Harmony and calmness will fill the room due to the comforting sound of the waterfall. While any space will benefit from a wall fountain, they are most often put in foyers. How to install one varies somewhat depending on the model, but there are some general directions that apply to all of them. Be sure that all the different pieces are used in building it. It will be necessary to connect the pump and tubing, and the base will need to be secured to the top portion. It is advisable to carefully review the directions before you start the assembly process. You should find the procedure relatively simple. Note, however, that the directions for your specific model can vary slightly. Have a colleague hold the wall fountain in the desired spot, then mark the wall accordingly. To ensure a proper line, use a level. Both the upper end and the base should be marked. There is more than a single technique to mount a wall fountain.

You can put the screws in the wall and slide them into the holes on the back of the wall fountain. Alternatively, brackets can be secured to the wall. The bracket option is best, especially for wall fountains that are big and bulky. Decide where the brackets need to be located and mark the wall accordingly. Use a drill to make the pilot holes on the wall for the drywall anchors. Attentively hammer the anchors into your wall. Use a cordless drill or a screwdriver to install the brackets, making sure they are straight. Install your wall fountain by fastening it onto the brackets. Check to see that it is in the correct position and safely on the brackets. Water can be added as soon as the fountain has been mounted. Use sufficient water so that the pump is completely covered. At this point plug it in and the water will start to flow. The water should fill the basin to within one inch of the top. The basin will overflow when the pump is shut off if it is too full, so be careful not to fill it completely. Anytime the water is not being pumped, it all settles at the bottom which causes the water level to rise. Whenever there is too much water, it will spill out and can harm your floor and furnishings.
