The Profound Effects of Fountains

Your quality of life will be favorably influenced by a fountain as it not only provides you a place of tranquility and calm, but also serves to clean the air.

There are many positive aspects to having an indoor or outdoor water fountain which you may not even recognize. 3618_ag_art_1__74358.jpg It is most likely no coincidence that the human body is made up mainly of water, and that people are attracted to coastal cities. While you could invest in an overpriced beach house or plunge into the ocean every day to reap the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and more affordable!

If you want to make your porch, patio, or back yard even more delightful, think about getting an outdoor garden fountain. Even if you are already happy with your outdoor area, the introduction of one of the many outdoor fountains available will make you love it even more. If you have a screened porch, think about installing one there, or if not, then on the exterior wall above your patio. If you have a flower bed, think about installing a beautiful tiered type there to add a sense of tranquility. Birds love birdbath fountains because the cascading of the water ensures that it stays clean and does not build up bacteria and algae. The enchanting sound of trickling water is the final touch your garden area needs to become an oasis of peace.

The Hellenic Republic: Architectural Statuary

A good number of sculptors were paid by the temples to enhance the intricate columns and archways with renderings of the gods until the time period came to a close and many Greeks started to think of their religion as superstitious rather than sacred, when it became more typical for sculptors to portray everyday men and women as well. Portraiture became prevalent as well, and would be embraced by the Romans when they defeated the Greeks, and on occasion well-off families would commission a depiction of their progenitors to be positioned inside their grand familial tombs. A time of artistic development, the use of sculpture and alternate art forms morphed throughout the Greek Classical period, so it is not entirely accurate to assume that the arts provided only one function. Greek sculpture was actually a modern part of antiquity, whether the reason was religious fervor or visual fulfillment, and its modern quality might be what endears it to us now.

Factors to Think About When Putting in a Garden Fountain

Two things many people forget about when planning the installation of a garden fountain is a suitable water source and an electrical outlet close by. People sometimes forget the technical things because they get caught up in the excitement of installing their newest purchase. Since standard power cords are only 12 feet in length, you might need to attach an extension cord to reach the nearest 120v outlet. You will also need to have a water resource close by so that you can easily fill your water fountain. Water is challenging to move by hand from place to place. The simplest way to fill the fountain is with a nearby hose. A water fountain autofill is an even better solution, but will demand the help of someone who knows how to set it up since the water has to go through an external line.

The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Fountains

Proper care and regular maintenance are important to the longevity of water fountains. It is important to clean it out and remove any debris or foreign objects that might have dropped into or onto it. Also, algae tends to build up anywhere natural light meets water. To prevent this, take vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or sea salt and add directly into the water. Bleach can also be put into the water, but this is not the ideal option because it can harm birds or other animals.

An extensive cleaning every three-four months is ideal for garden fountains. The initial task is to get rid of all the water. When you have done this, scour inside the water reservoir with a gentle detergent. Feel free to use a toothbrush if necessary for any smaller crevasses. Do not leave any soap residue in or on the fountain.

Make sure you get rid of any calcium or plankton by taking the pump apart and washing the inside carefully. Letting it soak in vinegar for a couple of hours first will make it alot easier to clean. Mineral or rain water, versus tap water, is ideal in order to eliminate any build-up of chemicals inside the pump.

Lastly, make sure your fountain is always full by checking on it every day - this will keep it in tip-top shape. If the water level slides below the pump’s intake level, it can damage the pump and cause it to burn out - something you do not want to happen!

Chatsworth: The Revelation Garden Fountain

Angela Conner, the reputable British sculptor, fashioned “Revelation,” the latest acquisition to the decorative exterior fountains of Chatsworth. In 2004/5 she was commissioned by the now deceased 11th Duke of Devonshire to produce a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth, in brass and steel, for the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration. In 1999 Revelation was mounted in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s earliest ponds. The four big metallic petals open and close with the movement of water, alternatively camouflaging and revealing a golden globe at the sculpture’s center. Standing five meters high and five meters wide, the globe was built from metal and then coated with gold dust. The flower petals move depending on the flow of water, making this installation an interesting addition to the Gardens of Chatsworth.
