How a Fountain Can Make Your World More Enjoyable

From improving air quality to contributing a feeling of serenity to the area, a fountain adds so much to your life.

You might not even be aware of the degree to which a water fountain, whether inside or outside, will improve your daily life. twf037-al__92279.jpg It is most likely no coincidence that the human body is made up mainly of water, and that people are attracted to coastal cities. While you could invest in an overpriced beach house or plunge into the ocean every day to reap the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and more affordable!

The addition of an outdoor garden fountain to any patio, terrace, or veranda will make a huge difference to your enjoyment of the space. However lovely it already is, your spot will be even more stunning if you add an outdoor water element from the wide variety available. A terrific idea is to put one on the wall of your screened porch, or perhaps outside as part of your outdoor decor. Your flower garden will become a place of glamorous decadence and serenity if you put in a tiered version. Birds love birdbath fountains because the flowing of the water ensures that it remains clean and does not build up bacteria and algae. The final touch your garden area needs to be an oasis of serenity is the sound of flowing water.

The Beauty of Multi-Tiered Water Elements

For a long time now, multi-tiered fountains have been popular, especially in gardens. Mediterranean countries such as Italy and Spain traditionally have lots of multi-level fountains. The courtyards of buildings and public squares are just a couple the areas you might see one. Tiered fountains come in a wide variety of designs, from elaborately carved styles to relatively basic types.

Traditional or classic locations are ideal spots for them. The fountain should seem as old as the rest of the decor and blend in accordingly.

Santa Maria in Cosmedin: A Roman Water Fountain Worthy of Experiencing

Both Christian and pagan articles have been found in by the load by archaeologists and restorers scouring the area of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The nearby basilica is largely for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its portico. When the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain was built in 1719, it was off the beaten track and mostly unknown as a result. It was said that there was very little to see in this area because it was bleak and desolate making it an unfriendly place to visit. It was then that the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was instructed by Pope Clement XI to build a fountain in the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in an effort to make the area more popular. The work of laying down the church’s foundation started on August 17, 1717.

Medallions bearing the imagery of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown in the foundation following the consecration of the first stone.

Stand-Alone Water Fountains: Are They Useful?

People love self-contained fountains for their easy installation and lower cost. You do not need to have any other components because they all come included with the instructions for your fountain. There is another use for the label “self-contained”, a reference to a fountain that has its own water repository.

Since they do not involve much work to install, self-contained fountains are perfect for patios and porches. Since they are versatile, it is simple to relocate them whenever you want.

The first thing the landscaper will need to determine is whether or not the land is level. Do not worry if the land is not flat, your landscaper can easily even it out. You are now set to set up your water feature and fill it with water. The last step is to plug it into an outlet, a solar panel, or batteries.

If you need a fountain that will not require an outside water source or additional plumbing, a self-contained fountain is best. Though a fountain can be a focal point anywhere in a garden, many people put them in the middle. Cast stone, metal, ceramic, and fiberglass are just a few of the materials used to make them.

Container Herb Gardens: What You Need to Know and More

Container gardening is the best way to cultivate herbs. People who like spending time in the kitchen or the garden usually find themselves drawn to the world of herbs. These simple to grow, unique plants provide immediate delight since they can be used in everyday dishes such as soups and marinades. An herb garden is easy to maintain once it is growing, and once autumn begins to freeze, planter gardens and potted herbs can easily be relocated - so they will last all winter long. Some herbs will be ready to harvest sooner than others due to their different growth rates. Patience is necessary for herb gardening, just like any other interest. Thought results might not be noticeable straight away, it is important to continue taking care of an herb garden as it takes time.

Interestingly one of Seven Wonders of the World, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, were merely terraced rooftop gardens. They were water-resistant and designed to be developed over a significant, curved stone foundation that kept large storage rooms further down. The terrace soil was dense enough to easily grow trees and water from deep wells fed the plants via hydraulic devices. Thyme, poppy, anise, and rosemary were desired plants.
